Advanced Structural Inspection & Condition Assessment

// SERVICES // FIELD

For engineers and owners, deteriorating bridges and concrete structures represent a major safety issue as well as imposing a growing financial burden. It is therefore imperative to find cost-effective solutions to investigate and optimize the maintenance of existing structures.

Our team of engineering specialists and experts can travel anywhere in Ontario to perform on-site inspections and offer in-depth insight into the often-complex problems of deteriorating concrete structures. HAL’s investigation techniques and methodologies used are always adapted in scope according to the complexity, type, and size of the structure being investigated.

Based on the review of available documentation, HAL classifies the type of damage observed and the level of severity and evaluate the source and mechanism of deterioration. For each element and associated damage classification, an in-situ activity (i.e., coring, inspection and/or NDT) and testing plan are developed.

Haghbin & Associates Ltd. is MTO RAQS-approved under Bridge Engineering - Condition Surveys & Bi-ennial Specialty categories and provides detailed condition surveys of bridges, buildings, parking garages and other concrete structures by utilizing aerial work platforms, bucket truck and bridgemaster.

Our team is qualified and experienced to carry out:

  • Detailed Bridge Condition Surveys

  • Detailed visual and enhanced OSIM inspections

  • Concrete and asphalt coring

  • Cover meter surveys and AC resistance testing

  • Post-tensioning tendon duct inspections

  • Asbestos sampling  of bridge component

  • Taking sawn samples and concrete cores for laboratory testing

  • Half-cell potential method for verification of active corrosion.
