HAL Group Inc. was retained by Parsons on behalf of the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) to carry out detailed condition surveys of rail-carrying bridges along Highway 401, including Bridges 8, 13, 17 and 20 at the Allen Road and Highway 401 interchange.

DETAILED CONDITION SURVEYS

Between 2020 and 2024, HAL surveyed eight rail-carrying bridges along Highway 401, providing condition data to guide maintenance and repair planning.

EMERGENCY INSPECTIONS

In 2023 and 2024, HAL carried out emergency inspections in response to concerns about loose concrete, recommending its removal to keep the travelling public safe.

TRAFFIC SAFETY

​

Robust traffic control allowed the inspections to proceed safely over Highway 401 while protecting both workers and motorists.

STAKEHOLDER COORDINATION

​

The work was coordinated closely with Parsons, the TTC and other authorities to keep transit and highway operations running safely.
