HAL Group Inc. is retained by Trillium Guideway Partners (TGP), the Acciona, Amico and WSP team, to provide third-party structural inspection on the Ontario Line Elevated Guideway and Stations contract for Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario. The work covers about three kilometres of elevated guideway and five elevated stations in Toronto's east end: Riverside-Leslieville, Gerrard, Thorncliffe Park, Flemingdon Park and Don Valley.

SCOPE OF WORK

Our inspectors independently check construction of the guideway piers, pier caps, precast elements and stations against the approved drawings, specifications and codes. Inspections cover concrete placement, reinforcing steel, precast and post-tensioning, structural steel and coatings, with field and laboratory testing through our partner laboratory.

INSPECTION AND REPORTING

Every inspection is recorded on a 26-form inspection suite built for this contract, and a detailed, code-compliant report is issued within 24 hours. Inspection areas include:

  • Concrete and reinforcing steel

  • Precast and post-tensioning

  • Structural steel and coatings

  • Field and laboratory testing

WHY IT MATTERS

Independent inspection gives the builder and the owner a documented record that what is being built matches the design, on one of Toronto's largest transit projects. It builds on HAL's earlier Ontario Line work: pre- and post-construction condition surveys of 658 structures for the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations Project.
